> ## Agent Instructions
> Quiver Quantitative API: base URL https://api.quiverquant.com, endpoints under /beta/. Authenticate every request with the header `Authorization: Bearer <API key>`. Keys are on https://api.quiverquant.com/dashboard/ after subscribing at https://api.quiverquant.com/pricing/.
> AI agents can use the Quiver MCP server at https://mcp.quiverquant.com/ (streamable HTTP; OAuth sign-in, or the API key as a Bearer token). Setup: https://api.quiverquant.com/docs/mcp-server.
> Each dataset needs a plan (https://api.quiverquant.com/docs/plans-and-access) and each endpoint has a per-account rate limit (https://api.quiverquant.com/docs/rate-limits).

# Connect the MCP server

> Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client to Quiver data with the remote MCP server at https://mcp.quiverquant.com/.

The Quiver MCP server lets AI assistants query Quiver data directly: ask "What stocks have members of Congress bought in the last 30 days?" and the assistant calls Quiver's tools to answer. It's a remote server, so there's nothing to install.

| | |
| - | - |
| Server URL | `https://mcp.quiverquant.com/` |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP |
| Sign-in | OAuth at `auth.quiverquant.com` (email code or Google), or your API key as a Bearer token |
| Plan | Any Quiver API plan. See [Plans and data access](/docs/plans-and-access.md). |

> [!WARNING]
>
> When you sign in with OAuth, use **the same email address as your Quiver API account**. If you sign in with a different email, the tools respond "authenticated but has no active subscription" even though you've paid.

## How do I connect my AI assistant?

> [tab] Claude
>
> 1. In Claude, open **Customize** in the sidebar, then **Connectors**.
> 2. Search for **Quiver Quant**, click **+**, then **Connect**.
> 3. Sign in with the email on your Quiver API account and click **Approve**.
>
> You can also add it as a custom connector: choose **Add custom connector**, enter `https://mcp.quiverquant.com/` and leave the OAuth client ID and secret blank.
>
> This works on claude.ai and in Claude Desktop. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an owner can add the connector once for the whole organization; each member then connects with their own Quiver account and plan.
>
> See the step-by-step guides for [Claude in the browser](https://www.quiverquant.com/claude-mcp-setup/) and [Claude Desktop](https://www.quiverquant.com/mcp-setup/).

> [tab] ChatGPT
>
> 1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings** and turn on **developer mode**.
> 2. Add a connector and paste the server URL: `https://mcp.quiverquant.com/`
> 3. Sign in with the email on your Quiver API account and click **Allow**.
>
> See the [ChatGPT setup guide](https://www.quiverquant.com/chatgpt-mcp-setup/) for screenshots of each step.

> [tab] Claude Code
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> claude mcp add --transport http quiverquant https://mcp.quiverquant.com/
> ```
>
> Then run `/mcp` in Claude Code and choose **quiverquant** to sign in. To use your API key instead of signing in:
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> claude mcp add --transport http quiverquant https://mcp.quiverquant.com/ \
>   --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
> ```

> [tab] Cursor
>
> Add the server to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`:
>
> ```json theme={null}
> {
>   "mcpServers": {
>     "quiverquant": {
>       "url": "https://mcp.quiverquant.com/"
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```
>
> Cursor opens a sign-in page the first time it connects. To use your API key instead, add `"headers": {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"}` next to `url`.

> [tab] VS Code
>
> Run **MCP: Add Server** from the Command Palette, choose **HTTP** and enter `https://mcp.quiverquant.com/`. Or add it to `.vscode/mcp.json`:
>
> ```json theme={null}
> {
>   "servers": {
>     "quiverquant": {
>       "type": "http",
>       "url": "https://mcp.quiverquant.com/"
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```
>
> To use your API key instead of signing in, add `"headers": {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"}` next to `url`.

> [tab] Other clients
>
> Any client that supports remote MCP servers over streamable HTTP can connect to `https://mcp.quiverquant.com/`. For clients that only run local servers, use [`mcp-remote`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/mcp-remote) as a bridge:
>
> ```json theme={null}
> {
>   "mcpServers": {
>     "quiverquant": {
>       "command": "npx",
>       "args": [
>         "-y",
>         "mcp-remote",
>         "https://mcp.quiverquant.com/",
>         "--header",
>         "Authorization:${AUTH_HEADER}"
>       ],
>       "env": {
>         "AUTH_HEADER": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
>       }
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```
>
> To sign in with OAuth instead, drop `--header` and the `env` block. `mcp-remote` opens a browser window to sign in the first time.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Don't put your API key in the request headers of a connector shared across a Claude Team or Enterprise organization. Those headers are shared with everyone who uses the connector, so they'd all use your account. Shared connectors should use OAuth sign-in.

## Which tools does the server provide?

| Tool | What it does |
| - | - |
| `get_congress_trades` | Get stock transactions by members of the U.S. Congress. |
| `get_congress_politician` | Get detailed information about a U.S. Congress member including their profile, net worth, stock portfolio, top donors, and recent trading activity. |
| `get_congress_legislation` | Get bills, legislation, and AI-generated bill summaries from Congress. |
| `get_insider_trading` | Get SEC Form 4 insider trading transactions. |
| `get_institutional_holdings` | Get SEC 13F institutional holdings data. |
| `get_gov_contracts` | Get government contracts and awards by ticker symbol. |
| `get_lobbying` | Get corporate lobbying spending data. |
| `get_ticker_ownership` | Get ownership data for a stock: insider holdings, institutional holders (13F), ownership breakdown, and executive compensation. |
| `get_dark_pool` | Get off-exchange (dark pool) trading data for a stock. |
| `get_patents` | Get patent filing data for a company including patent count, filing trends (drift), and momentum metrics. |
| `get_political_exposure` | Get a comprehensive political exposure report for a stock ticker. |
| `get_ticker_full_picture` | Get a combined picture of a stock: ownership breakdown (insider sentiment, 13F summary, top owners) and recent insider trading in one response. |
| `compare_tickers` | Compare 2-3 stock tickers side by side across any available dataset (congress trades, insider trading, ownership, social sentiment, etc.). |
| `search_datasets` | Discover what data is available in QuiverQuant. |
| `query_quiver_api` | Direct access to any QuiverQuant API endpoint by name. |
| `get_corporate_donors` | Get corporate PAC donation history from FEC filings. |
| `get_executive_compensation` | Get SEC executive compensation disclosures from proxy filings. |
| `get_quiver_newsfeed` | Get curated news from the Quiver newsfeed. |
| `get_trump_trades` | Get stock transactions by U.S. President Donald Trump (STOCK Act disclosures). |

`search_datasets` works without a plan. Every other tool needs an active Quiver API plan, and returns a message saying so if your account doesn't have one.

## What should I ask?

* "What stocks have members of Congress traded in the last 30 days?"
* "Show me recent insider transactions for NVDA."
* "Show me lobbying spending by Lockheed Martin this year."
* "Give me the full picture on NVDA: ownership, insider activity and political exposure."
* "What datasets does Quiver offer?" This works before you subscribe.

## Troubleshooting

> [accordion] "Your QuiverQuant account is authenticated but has no active subscription"
>
> You're signed in, but the account you signed in with has no active Quiver API plan. Common causes:
>
> * You signed in with a different email from the one on your API account, often because your browser reused an earlier sign-in. Disconnect the server, open the sign-in in a private window, and sign in with the email on your API account.
> * Your subscription is to the Quiver website (a Quiver Platform plan). That's a separate product: the MCP data tools need a Quiver API plan from the [pricing page](https://api.quiverquant.com/pricing/).

> [accordion] "Protected resource does not match"
>
> The server URL must be exactly `https://mcp.quiverquant.com/`: the hostname with a trailing slash, with no `/mcp` path.

> [accordion] A tool says to upgrade your plan
>
> Your plan doesn't include that tool's data. See [Plans and data access](/docs/plans-and-access.md).

> [accordion] The sign-in window doesn't appear, or the client shows 401
>
> If you use an API key, check the header is exactly `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY`. If you use OAuth, remove the server from your client, add it again, and sign in once more. With `mcp-remote`, also delete the matching files in `~/.mcp-auth/`, since older versions reuse expired sign-ins.
