> ## Agent Instructions
> Quiver Quantitative API: base URL https://api.quiverquant.com, endpoints under /beta/. Authenticate every request with the header `Authorization: Bearer <API key>`. Keys are on https://api.quiverquant.com/dashboard/ after subscribing at https://api.quiverquant.com/pricing/.
> AI agents can use the Quiver MCP server at https://mcp.quiverquant.com/ (streamable HTTP; OAuth sign-in, or the API key as a Bearer token). Setup: https://api.quiverquant.com/docs/mcp-server.
> Each dataset needs a plan (https://api.quiverquant.com/docs/plans-and-access) and each endpoint has a per-account rate limit (https://api.quiverquant.com/docs/rate-limits).

# Plans and data access

> Which Quiver API plan includes each dataset, what the plans cost, and which plans allow commercial use.

Every dataset belongs to a plan. The **Hobbyist** plan covers congressional, political and government data; the **Trader** plan adds insider trading, hedge fund 13F holdings and other SEC data. Hobbyist and Trader are for personal use. For commercial use you need the **Startup** or **Enterprise** plan, which include every Hobbyist and Trader dataset.

## Which plan includes which datasets?

| Dataset | Hobbyist | Trader, Startup and Enterprise |

[New Constructs](https://api.quiverquant.com/pricing/) earnings distortion scores are a separate partner subscription, not part of these plans.

The [rate limits page](/docs/rate-limits.md) lists every endpoint with the plan it needs. In the API reference sidebar, endpoints that need the Trader plan or a New Constructs subscription have a **Trader** or **New Constructs** badge. Endpoints without a badge are in every plan.

## Can I use Quiver data commercially?

Only on the Startup and Enterprise plans.

* **Hobbyist and Trader** are for personal, non-commercial use.
* **Startup** includes commercial use rights for companies with under \$1 million in annual revenue.
* **Enterprise** includes commercial use rights for organizations with over \$1 million in annual revenue. [Contact us](mailto:info@quiverquant.com) for pricing.

The [terms of service](https://www.quiverquant.com/termsofservice/) set out what each plan allows.

## How much do the plans cost?

| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Commercial use |
| - | - | - | - |
| Hobbyist | \$30 per month | \$300 per year | No |
| Trader | \$75 per month | \$750 per year | No |
| Startup | \$250 per month | \$2,500 per year | Yes, under \$1M annual revenue |
| Enterprise | Contact us | Contact us | Yes |

New Startup subscriptions get 50% off their first year. These are list prices as of November 2026; the [pricing page](https://api.quiverquant.com/pricing/) always has the current prices and any promotions.

## What happens if my plan doesn't include a dataset?

The API responds with `403` and `{"detail": "Upgrade your subscription plan to access this dataset."}`. You get the same response if you have no active plan, for example after your subscription ends. Your [dashboard](https://api.quiverquant.com/dashboard/) shows your plan and its status.

## Does the MCP server use the same plan?

Yes. The [MCP server](/docs/mcp-server.md) checks the plan on the Quiver account you sign in with, or the account that owns the API key you send. Its `search_datasets` tool works without a plan; every other tool needs an active one.
